“The work of my Laboratory Services team is critical to test and confirm the efficacy of many immunizations. As a mammalian cell culture team, we work 24/7 to support novel functional assays that test life-saving vaccines for populations around the globe. I’m proud to be a leader in the contract research organization (CRO) industry, and I’m proud of the impact that my team has on worldwide efforts to combat infectious diseases."
Jeymie, Group Leader, Lab Services, Richmond, VA
“I have had great opportunities to grow my career at PPD® Laboratory services over the last almost eight years, from when I started as a scientist, to now being a group leader for a team of scientists. Every day in this job is different. I help others problem-solve, collaborate with other teams to find solutions and focus on process improvements. Here, all my ideas are listened to and valued. I have also been lucky enough to be involved with customers who have exciting and progressive drug products in development.”
Barbara, Group Leader, Laboratory Services, Athlone, Ireland
"I enjoy the work we do on the Cell team, and I am happy to be part of the support for the downstream assays. I appreciate the people and the sense of community at Thermo Fisher Scientific as well."
Monica, Senior Scientist, Richmond, Virginia
"I started my career here almost a decade ago as an Assistant Scientist performing assays. I have since been afforded opportunities to climb the ladder to my current position as an Associate Group Leader. I credit my success to not only my personal drive to learn and to be involved, but also to the guidance and leadership of my coworkers with whom I have connected over the years."

slide 8 of 8 Working in Practical Process Improvement (PPI), I help departments run more efficiently. I do this by teaching new tools and helping teams implement new approaches to their processes. This role is rewarding in that it allows me to interact with all departments on site and learn about all the amazing work going on at Thermo Fisher Scientific. One of the best aspects of my job is working at a company with such a large product portfolio. There’s a wealth of resources within the company, which allows for greater growth potential—both in product development and career paths. At the end of the day, my work helps our departments. This allows for greater quality products, at more affordable prices, with shorter lead times—all of which increases accessibility to customers and helps make the world a healthier, cleaner and safer place.
