Thermo Fisher Scientific’s clinical research business wins clinical research company of the year title for fourth consecutive year, receives multiple honors at PharmaTimes competitions

WILMINGTON, N.C. (November 16, 2023) – The PPD clinical research business of Thermo Fisher Scientific, the world leader in serving science, has been recognized for excellence in clinical research at the 2023 PharmaTimes Clinical Researcher of the Year competitions.

The business was named “Clinical Research Company of the Year” at the 2023 PharmaTimes Clinical Researcher of the Year International competition, held earlier this year in London. More than 20 clinical researchers from the company were named winners within various team and individual competition categories, while a handful of other colleagues were named finalists.

At the international competition, research professionals representing the business won gold, silver and bronze in the Clinical Research Team, In-House Clinical Research Associate (CRA) and Start-Up (Singles) categories, silver in the Aspiring CRA category, bronze in the Team Leader category, as well as silver in the Start-Up Team category.

The business also won multiple honors at the Americas competition, held in October in the Research Triangle region of North Carolina. Company colleagues won gold in the Experienced CRA category, silver in Global Project Team and Start Up Team categories, silver and bronze in the Start Up Single category and bronze in the New CRA category.

“Each year, we look forward to these highly regarded competitions as it provides the team a global platform to showcase our strong expertise, robust skills and in-depth knowledge in a highly competitive environment,” said Cristina Nieto, senior vice president and global head of clinical operations, clinical research, Thermo Fisher Scientific. “I am proud of each team member and their success in this competition as it reflects their dedication and ability to provide the highest level of service to our customers every day.”

The PPD clinical research business offers a number of award-winning training and development programs, including the Clinical Foundation Program and CRA Academy, which serve as a key component in strengthening employees’ skills. Specifically, the academy guides clinical research associates as they gain real-time work experience with effective training and formal academy-based learning.

The Clinical Researcher of the Year award competitions, hosted by PharmaTimes, consist of a rigorous series of assessments, including a three-stage competition, where participants give presentations before a panel of experienced industry judges. The event was created to provide clinical research professionals an opportunity to benchmark their skills against their peers in a program of competency-based exercises developed through cross-industry collaboration.
