Philanthropy at PPD in Europe, Middle East, and Africa
We Do the Right Thing
At PPD, we are committed to helping to improve the health and lives of people around the world. Our integrity defines us, and is demonstrated in our employees’ daily work and their efforts outside of the office. As a company, our philanthropic giving and community outreach philosophy is simple: we invest our volunteering and funding resources into organizations that lead the way in contributing to healthier and thriving communities.
Our employees are the heart of our efforts. With every dollar that PPD donates, we ensure there is an opportunity for employees to volunteer and engage within their local communities. The passion and goodwill exemplified by our teams around the globe are not just beneficial to the surrounding communities, but also create a culture of collaboration within the workplace.
Below are just a few examples of the philanthropic initiatives our employees have contributed to.
Dressing Up for Charity
PPD employees based in Bellshill, Scotland, dressed in their finest apparel to raise money for an international charity. Instead of dressing casually on that given Friday, employees donated money to come to work in their finery.
The dress-up day was held on Red Nose Day, a biennial one-day telethon in the United Kingdom sponsored by Comic Relief, a British charity. The popular event funds more than 2,000 projects throughout the U.K., focusing on homelessness, mental health and dementia.
For a pound, employees could participate in a competition to try and identify their colleagues from a display of baby photos. Employees also enjoyed sharing funny pictures from their past, featuring a variety of amusingly bad hair and fashion choices.
Employees donated money to dress up, while others paid a voluntary donation for dressing normally. Those in the pharmacovigilance department made a group donation, and additional funds were collected from other departments.
Belgian Employees Think Pink
From pink desserts to pink lip balms to pink bandanas, employees in PPD's Belgium locations went all out for a local campaign to raise money and awareness for breast cancer research.
More than 120 employees and their families registered for TeamPPD, participating in the Think Pink – Antwerp Race for a Cure run/walk. PPD donated more than any other team at the event, and was called on stage for recognition by the Think Pink organizers.
In the weeks leading to the event, employees bought pink gadgets and desserts, and participated in other activities to help raise money for the cause. The organizing team set up a Think Pink corner in the break room that featured tips for running a first race and information about breast cancer and the campaign.
